So today I went to my first doctors appointment and when they did the pregnancy urine test it came back negative. I had taken 4 pregnancy tests at home and they were all positive. The doctor said it could be a chemical pregnancy. He ordered a blood hcg test and ultrasound for Friday to confirm that I am not pregnant. However, when I got home, I took two more pregnancy tests and they were both positive. I’m so confused as to what is going on. I feel like I’m going crazy. Has anyone had this happen to them ?

Are you taking the ultra sensitive at home tests (10miu?) You’re looking at them only within the timeframe? If so, It’s possible your HCG is between 10 and 25 still. If under 25, the dr may say not pregnant.

@user8679,
I used pregmate (some brand I bought off Amazon) and first response. I’ll post pictures of my tests

How dark is the line on your tests? Is it showing after 3 mins and before 5mins?
How many days post ovulation are you and are you late for your period yet?
I’ve booked my doctor apt 5w1d because I just wanted to wait and see that it wasn’t going to be a chemical pregnancy.

@puppers,
the line is dark and shows positive right away. I even bought a different brand and also positive. So I find it hard to believe the tests at the doctors didn’t show up positive. I’ll post pictures
I don’t track ovulation but according to my LMP, I’m 5w6d. My period is one week late

When I was pregnant with my first Bub I was positive at home but negative at the drs office. He said that the test I was doing at home was probably just more sensitive than the one he had access to. He told me to test again in the evening (after a well hydrated day) in a couple of days and if that was positive he’d send me for bloods and an ultrasound. It was a nice dark positive line a few days later and I went on to have a health baby.
It could be a chemical pregnancy but it could also just be early. Try again in a day or two and see if the line gets darker then go back to the drs

@squishyseal,
that’s good to hear, I hope that’s the case for me. The thing is that I’ve been taking tests and the lines are dark and turn positive right away. So I’m confused as to why the one at the doctors did not pick it up. According to my LMP, im 5w6d so I don’t believe I’m testing too early. I just posted pictures of tests

@lizzt25,
they’re definitely positive. They’re stronger than my ones were this time around when I got a + at the dr. If the dr only did one test maybe it was a faulty test.
If I was you I’d definitely assume you’re positive

@lizzt25,
those are very positive. I bet the doctors urine test was faulty! I’m glad you got a blood test done. That will show that you are indeed pregnant! Congratulations!

Unfortunately in my case in this situation, I had a chemical but mine were gradually getting lighter, still positive but I had gone to the ER and it was negative

I had positive pregnancy tests at home and negative at the doctors office. I was in fact pregnant and went on to have a healthy babe. Often, the doctors office tests aren’t as sensitive. Hopefully this is the case for you!

This happened to me. I was 10DPO when I went to the doctor to confirm I was pregnant. I had been testing positive for 3 days and my lines were getting darker. I was using the early response tests though. When they tested my urine at the doctors it came back negative, but their tests are not as sensitive. They did blood work and surely I had rising HCG. I’m now 7W3D.
It could just be too early for their test to detect! Ask for blood work.
