Brownie Dip Ingredients

For this recipe, there are only a few ingredients:

How To Make Edible Brownie Batter Dip

  1. Microwave the brownie mix for 1 minute and 15 seconds (stopping and mixing it after 15-second intervals).
  2. Beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth, then mix in the whipped topping.
  3. Mix in the box of brownie mix (just the dry mix), then add in the milk and mix until smooth.

From start to finish, this recipe will take under 5 minutes to make.

PRO-TIP: I highly recommend heat treating your brownie mix prior to mixing it into the recipe. You can do this by microwaving the mix for 1 minute and 15 seconds (stopping and mixing it after 15-second intervals)

You can also add in mini chocolate chips, candies, chopped brownie pieces, or really whatever your chocolate-loving heart is craving.

I’ve made it with mini M&Ms too – which reminded everyone of cosmic brownies. Or if you love peanut butter brownies, you can try adding in chopped peanut butter cups. Or if you love s’mores brownies – you could add in mini marshmallows and chopped graham crackers.

Then spoon the batter into a bowl, and you’re ready to serve.

Brownie Mix Add-Ins for Dip

How long does homemade brownie batter last? ›

Does brownie mix go bad? ›

The question of its shelf life often arises for consumers looking to enjoy their brownies with the best quality. Typically, an unopened package of brownie mix can last between 12 to 18 months when stored properly.

Do brownies go bad if not refrigerated? ›

Is it better to refrigerate brownies or leave them out? ›

Why do you put coffee in brownies? ›

The first and easiest upgrade you can give to your boxed brownie mix is to add a tablespoon of instant coffee to the batter. Adding coffee to your brownies boosts their flavor because its bitter quality balances out sweetness, making it less overpowering. It allows that delicious chocolate flavor to really shine.

What happens if you overmix brownie batter? ›

Over mixing brownie leads to too much air incorporation and can leave your brownie looking and tasting like a chocolate cake. Under mixing will lead to insufficient combination of your core ingredients and so the brownie texture will not form to perfection.

Is brownie batter better thick or thin? ›

The ideal consistency of brownie mix is thick and gooey, similar to a thick cake batter. When you mix the ingredients together, the batter should be smooth and free of lumps, with a slightly sticky texture. This consistency is important for achieving moist and fudgy brownies that are rich in flavor.

What can I add to brownie mix to make them better? ›

Nuts and chocolate are a flavor combination made in heaven. In addition to scattering nuts on top of brownies, you can also add them directly to the batter, then bake as usual. Walnuts, pecans, almonds and peanuts all work beautifully. Just be sure to toast the nuts beforehand for extra depth.

How do you doctor up brownie mix? ›

One change is to use milk or heavy cream instead of water. This change will make brownies more moist and gooey since milk is more fatty and flavorful than water. A second change is to use butter instead of oil. For similar reasons to using milk, butter adds a rich and more decadent quality to the batter.

Should you refrigerate brownie batter before baking? ›

Chill out for a while

The Oregonian relays cookbook author Alice Medrich's advice on her tried and true method of achieving a wonderful, shiny brownie top: chill your brownie batter. Medrich's trick is to refrigerate the prepared brownie batter overnight and up to three days before you bake it.

Is year old brownie mix still good? ›

Typically, most manufacturers recommend using the mix within 18 to 24 months from the date of manufacture. It's important to check the expiration date printed on the box and store the mix in a cool, dry place to help extend its shelf life.

Can you eat year old brownie mix? ›

Baking mixes can generally be used past their expiration date, but they may not perform as well as they would if they were fresh. Over time, the ingredients in the mix can lose their potency, leading to a change in flavor, texture, and overall quality of the baked goods.

Can I use a cake mix that expired 2 years ago? ›

Using a cake mix that is 2 years old may not yield the best results. While cake mixes typically have a shelf life of around 12 to 18 months, they can still be safe to consume beyond this timeframe if stored properly and if there are no signs of spoilage such as mold or an off smell.

Does putting brownies in the fridge make them fudgy? ›

The brownies will continue to set as they cool. This recipe must be served after they've cooled to room temperature completely. In fact, they solidify into even more fudgy brownie bits if you chill them in the fridge before slicing and serving.

Will brownies firm up in the fridge? ›

For perfect, fudgy brownies, let them cool in their tin for 1-2 hours after baking, and then put them in the fridge overnight. Using a hot knife, you'll be able to slice them straight from the fridge and achieve those perfectly neat, sharp edges.
