Travis Kelce has nothing but good things to say about meeting part of Britain’s royal family while in London for girlfriend Taylor Swift’s leg of her “Eras Tour” last week, which featured Kelce's own surprising onstage moment.
“We met royalty, guys. There was royalty at the show,” Travis Kelce told his brother, Jason Kelce, on the June 26 episode of their “New Heights” podcast before discussing how he got to meet Prince William.
“Dude, he was the coolest mother------. He was so cool,” he continued.
“He’s a good dude,” Jason Kelce said, while his brother confirmed William was on hand with his kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
“They were an absolute delight to me,” Travis Kelce said. “(I) wasn’t sure if I was supposed to bow to them, curtsy, just be an American idiot and shake their hand.”
“They said that because we weren’t at an official royal event, we didn’t need to bow or curtsy,” Jason Kelce said, who noted he called William “Your Royal Highness.”
“They were wonderful people,” he added.
Jason Kelce also said he was impressed by how approachable the prince was.
“Hard to be a down-to-earth human being, I would assume, but came off that way, completely,” he said.
“Very genuine, very cool,” Travis Kelce said.
Jason Kelce mentioned the royals had met Swift before, which prompted Travis Kelce to share a story about how they took the stage to sing together one time with another American icon.
“They actually performed karaoke with Bon Jovi,” he said.
“Bon Jovi called them up, they said, yeah, ‘Livin' On a Prayer’ was a song that I guess Prince William loves to sing karaoke to. And so Bon Jovi called him up and was like, ‘Yo, why don’t you come on up, sing this one with me?’ And I guess he was like, ‘I don’t know.’”
Travis Kelce said Swift then did her part to put the prince at ease.
“And Taylor was just like, ‘Let’s do this. I’ll roll up there with you. You won’t be the only one.’ So, Tay got him out of his shell,” he said.
“And, sure enough, he went up there and they ripped it, and they said he had a blast. And I’m just like, I don’t know if any other prince is doing that. You know what I mean? In terms of royalty, it seems like they like to sit back and the show is the show, but he was cool enough to be a part of it. But that just shows you how personable he is.”
The Kelce brothers also raved about William's kids, whom the prince shares with wife Kate Middleton. The couple also have another son, Prince Louis, who did not attend the concert.
"I got to say Prince William was fantastic, but the highlight was Princess Charlotte," Jason Kelce said. "Prince George was great, too. She was so f------ adorable."
"She was a superstar," Travis Kelce said.
"Maybe it's because I have three girls now. She had fire to her, she was asking questions. That was the most electric part of the (night)," Jason Kelce continued.
Travis Kelce flew across the pond to support Swift during her three shows at Wembley Stadium, which took place June 21 to 23. Instead of just singing along with the crowd, though, he decided to hop onstage at her June 23 concert and joined Swift for the pantomime skit that leads into her performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”Jason Kelce also traveled to London to see Swift’s concert for the first time with wife Kylie Kelce.
During the concert, Travis Kelce appeared onstage wearing the same black-and-white suit and top hat ensemble as two of Swift’s other dancers. The crowd applauded as he acted out the musical interlude with the singer and her crew, which included picking Swift up and placing her on a red couch before she made a wardrobe change.
The tight end then watched her strut away with a wide smile on his face before he and the other dancers were lowered beneath the stage.
After each group of shows in a particular city, Swift shares highlights from those concerts and pens a special message for her fans on social media. For her London post, she gave Travis Kelce a sweet shoutout and uploaded photos from the interactions on stage.
“I’m still cracking up/swooning over @killatrav’s Eras Tour debut,” she wrote in the Instagram caption.
